Winter Weddings

Over the last few years, I’ve noticed more and more winter weddings and find they are just as elegant as a June wedding.  In fact, one bride last year was a bit sad because she planned a winter wedding and was really hoping for snow.  Here are some ideas to help keep in the spirit of the winter theme.

First, winter colors should be used for the décor and with the bridesmaid’s dresses like a winter blue with a touch of silver.  Add some glittery and sparking snowflakes, or some branches without leaves decorated with white lights and artificial snow for your table centerpieces.  The feel of lots of candle light adds a simple elegance.

One of my favorite looks it bright red velvet dresses for the bridesmaids, with green and white poinsettias being carried…and the bride in a long, white velvet wedding dress with a stunning bouquet of white poinsettias.  An old fashion muff is neat and you can pin a simple flower arrangement on top as the bridesmaids carry them down the aisle.  Cozy candles inside fresh green wreaths could be used for table centerpieces.  At this time of year, add some fake fur wraps to keep off the winter chill.

Embrace the season and serve hearty foods that everyone loves in winter.  Follow that by perhaps a hot chocolate bar, coffee bar, and some decadent desserts.

And if you are lucking enough to have a blanket of snow, why not schedule a fun sleigh ride to the reception!  And don’t shy away from outdoor photographs, as they can really capture the season and beauty of winter.
