Tips for selecting a Wedding Dress

Ballgown

Last weekend in New York the industry’s top bridal designers showed their Spring/Summer 2014 collections at Bridal Market.  They say that gone is Organza and Chantilly Lace and that a new wave of fabrics will be exploding the scene like hand-painted lace and golf-flecked detailing.  And then there is the new color trend – a stylish very light “rose” color gown.  Plus the veil will play a much larger role in completing the look – with lots of Cathedral length veils flowing down the aisles.

So….just what does that have to do with the average bride selecting a dress.  Not much.

No matter what the trend, the dress decision is really what looks fabulous on you and what is a reflection of your own personal style.  Envision your wedding and picture yourself on your wedding day.   Keep in mind your body and think about a silhouette that flatters.  Ballgowns have very full skirts and look beautiful on any body type, unless you are very short and small.  A-lines flare from the waist and are a terrific choice for someone who would like to hide lower body flaws.  Sheaths are best for women with slim, balanced figures, and empire waist gowns are excellent choices for pregnant brides because they provide extra room in the waist.

Learn more about selecting your wedding dress at our “How to Buy YOUR Perfect Wedding Dress” SEMINAR scheduled for every January at our WEDDING EXPO.  We will present examples of DRESSES on LIVE MODELS so you can see for yourself, how a specific style can really make you look fabulous.   Before you walk into your first bridal fashion store, learn the basics at our workshop.  A better informed bride is a happier bride.

And, the most important tip, if you feel beautiful in a dress, then buy it!
