People love stories. Photographs, pictures, images, call them what you wish, they are in fact frozen moments in time and every image has a story. And the fact is, when you go back and look at an image, it is about the image – but it is also about remembering the feelings and emotions that occurred at that particular time. It’s not always about capturing who was there and what they were wearing, it’s about the emotion, family connection, bond of friendship, a legacy, all captured in less than 1/125 of a second. Hurricane victims often say the first thing they grab before leaving for safety is their photos!
That’s why wedding photography is so important! Your wedding is the first day of your marriage and the first day that the two of you are together as man and wife! It’s a day to remember. It’s a day where family members and friends gather to celebrate your joy. And during this day, there will be lots of stories being told with images throughout the day. The beauty of true candid photography is not just snapping away randomly, but capturing true feelings and expressions.
And that’s why it is important to choose a good wedding photographer. That person should have experience of knowing how to capture your day – your story. Yes, professional level equipment is necessary for the technical quality of the image, but the EXPERIENCE of a professional photographer is priceless. Let family and friends supplement the professional photos, but hire a professional. It should be one of your top priorities. At many shows, past brides have said to me, “I should have taken your advice and hired a professional photographer.” Like my mother often said, “I told you so.” Don’t be a should of…could of…but didn’t. There are no do-overs.
