Planning a Wedding, Wedding timeline

 

Here is an easy to follow Wedding Planning Schedule that you might wish to print out and keep handy.  The secret to a stress-free wedding is being prepared and handling the scheduled tasks on a timely basis.  You should work with your partner on many of these tasks as it is his wedding too!  Most importantly, decide on a budget and stick to it.  If you follow these few steps, you will be able to enjoy a fantastic wedding!

 

10 Months Before Wedding

          • Pick wedding theme/style/color
          • Discuss priorities and create a budget
          • Discuss division of expenses
          • Choose wedding date and time
          • Create a free wedding web site
          • Make a tentative guest list
          • Research, tour, and book venue
          • Get engagement photo taken.
          • Research, interview and select photographer
          • Research, interview and select videographer
          • Select members of wedding party
          • Begin shopping for your wedding dress
          • Attend bridal shows

9 Months Before Wedding

          • Pick DJ/Band and ceremony musicians
          • Interview & book coordinators/planners
          • Meet with travel specialist
          • Meet with stationer and calligrapher
          • Order “Save the Date” announcements
          • Interview and book florist
          • Meet with ceremony officiant

8 Months Before Wedding

          • Order your bridal gown  
          • Select bridal party attire
          • Research and book event rental companies
          • Send your “Save the date” announcements
          • Attend cake and dessert tastings
          • Research wedding transportation options

7 Months Before Wedding

          • Attend food tasting or choose caterer
          • Research bar services if venue does not provide
          • Establish Gift Registries
          • Finalize guest list & purchase guest book
          • Order wedding invitations
          • Order wedding cake

6 Months before Wedding

          • Book wedding night hotel suite
          • Plan hotel and transportation for out-of-town guests
          • Schedule a makeup and hair stylist trial
          • Book honeymoon
          • Select and order wedding favors
          • Plan & Prepare décor for reception/ceremony area

5 Months Before Wedding

          • Purchase Wedding Bands
          • Order groom’s attire
          • Select groomsmen’s attire
          • Send out-of-town invitations (RSVPs should be due 1 month prior to wedding)

4 Months Before Wedding

          • Book wedding day transportation
          • Create your day of “emergency” kit
          • Decide on getting ready locations
          • Order “Thank You” cards

3 Months Before Wedding

          • Send out invitations to in-town guests (RSVPs should be due 1 month prior to wedding)
          • Print out directions and/or maps
          • Finalize and book venue/menu for rehearsal dinner
          • Finalize menu and drinks for reception
          • Determine floor plan layout
          • Look into wedding insurance

2 Months Before Wedding

          • Purchase gifts for wedding party & parents
          • Plan reception seating
          • Select wedding readings
          • Decide who will give speeches (limit them to 5 minutes)
          • Send rehearsal dinner invites
          • Purchase a gift for your spouse to be
          • Arrange parents meeting, if they have not yet
          • Have all DIY projects completed

1 Month Before Wedding

          • Finalize arrangements with DJ/Band and Ceremony Musicians
          • Finalize arrangements with Photographer, Videographer
          • Finalize arrangements with Florists and Cake Baker
          • Get final fitting of your wedding gown
          • Get marriage license
          • Get name change forms (if you are changing your name))
          • Confirm all hotel accommodations
          • Have ceremony programs, menus, seating charts printed
          • Create a wedding day schedule
          • Finalize guest list Finalize venue and ceremony details

1-2 Weeks Before Wedding

          • Have rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
          • Give gifts to wedding party and parents
          • Have bridesmaid’s party
          • Have groomsmen’s day out
          • Confirm wedding day transportation
          • Confirm guest count with caterer
          • Pack for Honeymoon
          • Last Check with Vendors – Musicians/Photographer/Cake/Florist

1 Day Before Wedding

          • Get manicure and pedicure
          • Guys to have hair cut and shave
          • Deliver welcome bags to hotel
          • Prepare tips and payment envelopes
          • If dressing elsewhere, double check your list of what to take
