<\/p>\nIt\u2019s crazy, but one of the many questions that I have heard the wedding couple ask is, \u201cHow do we cut the cake?\u201d\u00a0 While at first thought you might think that\u2019s a simple question, there are some etiquette rules even on this part of the wedding.\u00a0 So, let\u2019s talk about this.<\/p>\n

Rule Number One \u2013 Make sure your photographer is there and ready to capture the event.\u00a0 Your photographer might be capturing other\u00a0activity across the room, and sadly not all DJs do their job to keep the photographer informed on what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n
There should be two tools – a knife and a server.\u00a0 The top layer should be saved for your First Anniversary.\u00a0 Do not cut that.\u00a0 Most couples will use the knife to make a triangular slice on the bottom layer.\u00a0 The bride\u2019s hand goes on the knife first, and the groom places his hand over the bride\u2019s hand.\u00a0 Make sure to cut through all the layers.\u00a0 Then use the server to scoop out the slice to the awaiting plate. \u00a0\u00a0Either the bride scoops the cake slice and the groom holds the plate, or vice versa.<\/p>\n

Prior to the wedding, the couple should decide, \u201cDo we use forks or do we hand feed?\u201d\u00a0 Either is perfectly acceptable.\u00a0 And now comes the fun part \u2013 feeding each other.\u00a0 Play nice, and if you are using fingers, be prepared to get a little messy; it\u2019s all part of the fun.<\/p>\n
And don\u2019t forget to have them put aside several slices for after the wedding, as many couples don\u2019t take the time to enjoy their cake at the reception.<\/p>\n
