Description:  Oakland House is a special beautiful historic home which can accommodate inside ceremonies up to 70 guests or 64 guests for a sit down reception.   There is a terrace which will hold up to a 40’ X 80’ tent for a 250 guest reception and a terrace on the house for the wedding ceremony.  The gounds around the Oakland House provide numerous photo sites.

Making the Most of a Bridal Show

I don’t know about you, but I need something – anything – to help warm up!  You, too?  Well, why not stay warm by attending our upcoming bridal show, My Dream Wedding, being held this Sunday January 24th, 2016 at The Christy Banquet Center in O’Fallon, Missouri.  It starts at 11am and closes at 3:30pm.  You will experience the #1 Bridal Boutique Event of the year with exquisite décor, uplighting, a great free lunch (The Christy has amazing food!), a mimosa when you arrive, lots of gifts & prizes, a fashion parade that goes on from 12 noon to three in the afternoon (including the cutest flower girls), over 40 select professional wedding vendors, and three free educational seminars on wedding planning, photography, and some quick 30 minutes of ballroom dance lessons for that first dance.

The newest trend in Bridal Shows is the smaller, more boutique shows that don’t feel like an “expo” and where you can have fun, ask questions, and not be ran over by people just trying to get “free” stuff.

Many brides tell me that they are thoroughly overwhelmed the first time they attend a bridal fair, so I thought it might be good to lay out a few guidelines to help you make the most of your time.

Before you go to any show – print several sheets of adhesive address labels with your name, contact information, AND wedding date.  Quickly peel off a label and stick it on an inquiry sheet at any booth that you would like to receive additional information.

Bring your checkbook – you just might want to book or hold a date.  High demand dates can go quickly.

Bring family or friends you trust, and whose opinion matters.  But be careful of the size of your group.  Too many opinions – and you could be overwhelmed with indecision.

Invite your groom – but take him only if he wants to have a voice in this part of the wedding planning.  If this is not his thing, don’t torture him!

Be ready with phrases such as, “I’ll think about that.”  And always give yourself a set amount of time and make a decision.  One of the biggest causes of stress in wedding planning is not making decisions on a timely basis..and then things start too really back up and you’ll find yourself in a spin trying to finalize decisions.

Select your venue – photographer – videographer first.  Photographers and videographers book fast as they usually accept only one client on any one day, and prime dates go fast.  Honestly – lots of photographers have their May, June, Sept. and October dates almost all full already!   It’s not too early to put down that deposit.  Florists, Bakeries and other items can be booked a bit later as they usually can handle more than one wedding per date.

Whether your wedding is a few months away or an entire year, a bridal show will help you pull everything together.
