All About Bridal Shows/Workshops

Bridal Show

I don’t know about you, but I need something – anything – to help warm my soul.  You, too?  Well, why not stay warm by attending our bridal workshop/show next week – “Engaged! For Sweethearts”.   (Find more information on the home page of our web site.)

Wedding shows can be fun and exciting, as you put together the pieces of your wedding day.  And they are indoors…where it’s warm!  So you can warm your body and excite your spirit.

As we get ready for our own show next week, I wanted to toss out some suggestions on how to best make the most of bridal shows.  Many brides tell me that they are thoroughly overwhelmed the first time they attend a bridal fair, so I thought it might be good to lay out a few guidelines to help you make the most of your time.

  • Before you go – print several sheets of adhesive address labels with your name, contact information, AND wedding date.  Quickly peel off a label and stick it on an inquiry sheet at any booth that you would like to receive additional information.
  • Bring your checkbook – you just might want to book or hold a date.  High demand dates can go quickly.
  • Bring family or friends you trust, and whose opinion matters.  But be careful of the size of your group.  Too many opinions – and you could be overwhelmed with indecision.
  • Invite your groom – but take him only if he wants to have a voice in this part of the wedding planning.  If this is not his thing, don’t torture him!
  • Know what you are looking for and what’s your budget.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
  • Most prizes are awarded toward the end of the show (about 3:30 pm or so) and many require you to be present to win.  So, be sure to plan your time accordingly for an opportunity to win some of the great gifts and prizes.
  • Be ready with phrases such as, “I’ll think about that.”  And always give yourself a set amount of time and make a decision.  One of the biggest causes of stress in wedding planning is not making decisions on a timely basis…and then things start to really back up and you’ll find yourself in a spin trying to finalize decisions.

Whether your wedding is a few months away or an entire year, a bridal show will help you pull everything together.  At our twelve workshop sessions on Sunday you will actually learn things and have fun.  And they are FREE.

One of the things that I like most about bridal shows is the opportunity to meet so many of you future brides and learn about how we can best help you.  Yesterday, we had a wonderful afternoon at the Something New Bridal Fair that was held at Spazio’s in Westport Plaza and I had the opportunity to meet some fabulous vendors as well, so watch for future blog posts about some terrific companies and their services/products.

Laser Light Show Premiers at Engaged! For Sweethearts

Are you in for a treat!  After a fabulous Fashion Show we are introducing something brand new that you have NEVER seen at a bridal workshop/show – a Laser Light Show!  This is the newest trend in entertainment for wedding receptions and it is hot!

Fullhouse Productions (www.Fullhouseproductions.com) will premier a laser show that is awesome!  We will dim the lights and enjoy a sight and sound spectacular performance.  It’s fun.   It’s exciting.  And your guests will be raving about this for years to come.  Be sure to come to experience the thrill.

Only Two More Weeks Until “Engaged! For Sweethearts”

Girl Boy Photo 3

Just two weeks until “Engaged! For Sweethearts” and we are so excited.  We did a trial run of the Laser Light Show being presented by Full House Productions (www.FullHouseProductions.com) and it will be a sensational sight and sound event.  (Our Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/BrideStLouis, had a brief posting of a laser light demonstration that you might like to check to see what is in store for you.)   That is something you definitely do not want to miss.

We have also received more news of some great gifts that you might win.  For example, you will get a KEY from Holiday Inn – Route 66.  If this key unlocks the door to their guest room accommodations, you will win a fabulous five senses basket that includes a night stay & breakfast, chocolates, a classic musical CD, and a spa massage for two.  It’s valued at $350.00.

Artizma Bridal Fashions (http://www.artiztabridal.com) , who is producing our fashion show, ordered some very special dresses that are exclusive to her shop, and you will see them only at “Engaged! For Sweethearts.”

You will be treated as very special guests with champagne with orchids upon arrival and Holiday Inn will satisfy your hunger with a mashed potato bar, a pasta bar, and a delightful salad bar.  So mark this date on your calendar – FEBRUARY 16, 2014.    And even if we get blessed with snow – we will be there, anxious to meet you.

Be sure to check back over the next few days, and we will be telling you more about this bridal workshop/show.

Bride Alive Review

Alive Bride presented by Alive Magazine was a fun night of social buzz and a lot of Radiant Orchid – the Pantone color of the year!   It was a great experience and well organized.  There were probably about 35-40 vendors and the space was packed.  The thing about bridal shows is that you can always learn something or meet somebody new.

A new comer to the bridal scene is a company called Sparked Media Collective.  They are storybook videographers that have some amazing packages. Ces and Judy’s, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Local Harvest Catering, and Gregory’s Creative Cuisine all had some terrific food tastings.  Another favorite of mine was Pink Picker Party that creates some beautiful custom, handmade décor items.  And then The Hive from Alton, another great find, had a wonderful display of gourmet popcorn and candy.  These new vendors have all been added to our web site and you can find them at www.BrideStLouis.com/listings.  Another vendor that was there was the Moonrise Hotel and I hope to visit with them soon and do a full review of their venue for you.

The only complaint that I had, and others had as well, is that the DJ was way too loud.  No one could talk over them.  That seems to be a problem at many bridal shows, and I seriously wish that show organizers would address that issue.  It makes it extremely difficult to carry on conversations and make connections.

But other than that – it was a great event.
